State revokes Nevada physician's license due to 'pointless procedures'

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Reno obstetrician and gynecologist shouldn’t be allowed to follow drugs in Nevada for 5 years, following complaints alleging he carried out “medically unnecessary procedures and surgeries.”

In line with the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Samuel Chacon’s license was suspended in 2023 due to these complaints. As well as, he was discovered to have violated state legislation when he offered being pregnant care however didn’t have hospital privileges and didn’t make different preparations for the supply.

The five-year revocation of his license was primarily based on a settlement settlement. Chacon can reapply for a medical license after June 6, 2030. Nevada legislation would not permit everlasting revocation of a medical license.

Beneath the settlement, Chacon should reimburse the board $65,000 for the prices of prosecuting him.

“The entire team has worked tirelessly on these issues on behalf of the women who have been and could be affected if Dr. Chacon continued to practice in Nevada,” President of the Board Dr. Nick Spirtos said. “I believe we have met our obligation to protect the public in this case, and this action will demonstrate to other providers that the Board is serious about fulfilling our highest legislative charge to ensure that unfit physicians are removed from the medical profession so they will not cause continued harm to the public.”
