LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Clark County officers mentioned the federal authorities has begun the method that would convey a second main airport to the Las Vegas space.
In a social media publish on X, Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County aviation director, mentioned the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Bureau of Land Administration (BLM) are transferring ahead, issuing a Discover of Intent to arrange the Environmental Influence Assertion (EIS) for the Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport (SNSA).
She referred to as it “a major milestone in our region’s aviation future.”
Harry Reid Worldwide Airport in Las Vegas is ranked because the No. 8 busiest airport within the U.S., simply behind Orlando and forward of Charlotte. Officers have been working for years to deal with the necessity, which has targeted on the Ivanpah Valley, alongside Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and the California state line.

The location might see monumental progress, however questions on water availability and conflicts with endangered species habitat — the desert tortoise — must be addressed within the environmental evaluation of the mission.

This is a pivotal step for our region, and upon receiving a favorable Record of Decision, we are committed to building an airport that supports the long-term growth of our region,” Vassiliadis mentioned.
Vassiliadis was appointed to her place in 2013.
