Rising Las Vegas boxing star goals for gold at Junior Olympics

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rising boxing star Frank Cox from the northeast Las Vegas valley was instructed he wouldn’t make it, however he climbed to No. 8 within the nation.

“When I first got in the bracket, I was like okay… It’s cool. I’m a little nervous because I’m fighting number one seeds, two seeds, three seeds,” Cox mentioned. “I had a lot of doubters against me. I had a lot of people talking about me, saying that ‘he’s not going to make it.'”

Cox entered the 2025 USA Boxing Worldwide Open unseeded and never on anybody’s radar.

“This is a hard tournament. I’m not gonna lie, throughout the whole tournament, I was like, I got to prove them wrong. I have to prove everybody wrong. I am the guy that should be here,” Cox mentioned.

After catching everybody’s consideration with lightning-fast palms and a silver medal round his neck, he has acquired the boxing world buzzing, some are already calling him a future Olympian.

“I had the USA coach telling the interviewer at the event that I could be the next future Olympian, the next gold medalist. I feel like everybody was surprised that I came in second place,” Cox mentioned.

Cox went from being unranked and unseeded to rising all the best way to the #8 spot within the nation.

“It’s very confusing to the other side, the other corner. It’s very hard to get down. I can change my style in all types of ways. I can go from a brawler to a boxer to an outside fighter to an inside fighter. Very confusing for the opponent to get down,” Cox mentioned.

Subsequent up for Cox is the Junior Olympics in June. This time round, he is going for the gold.
