Las Vegas scholar's art work featured on billboard after profitable contest

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – An elementary college scholar is getting the possibility to indicate off his art work in a novel means for the entire Las Vegas valley to see.

Clark County celebrated Johan Mendez Herrera, a 3rd grader from Gene Ward Elementary College after he received the Spring Billboard Paintings contest on Thursday.

Herrera’s artwork is on show on one among Connell Outside Promoting’s billboards positioned at Harry Reid Worldwide Airport.

Herrera mentioned one among his favourite elements of the competitors was evaluating photographs of many iconic landmarks throughout the Las Vegas valley after which recreating the pictures himself.

“I looked at some photos so I can see what they looked like, and then I drew them, like the Sphere and the pyramid and the castle,” Herrera mentioned. “My only goal is to be a professional artist.”

This yr’s theme was entitled “What Las Vegas Means to Me,” and invited younger artists to visually characterize their private connections to Las Vegas.
