Fireplace contained in Wetlands Park in southeast Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) —  A big column of smoke within the east Las Vegas valley was attributable to a hearth on the Clark County Wetlands Park.

The fireplace was first seen at 8:50 a.m. The park is situated close to Tropicana Avenue/Broadbent Boulevard east of Boulder Freeway. Clark County fireplace crews had been responding to the fireplace Monday morning.

Wayne Dailey, deputy fireplace chief for the Clark County Fireplace Division, stated the wind was working in first responders’ favor, blowing the fireplace away from houses within the space. Nonetheless, six engines had been in place from the Clark County and Henderson fireplace departments to guard the Wetlands Park customer heart and water therapy plant.
