63-year-old arrested in reference to lethal hit-and-run crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Almost three weeks after a lethal hit-and-run within the Las Vegas valley, police arrested a suspect in reference to the crash.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Division officers took Karen Cannon, 63, into custody for the hit-and-run crash that killed 33-year-old Patrick Deloriea, who was using a skateboard on Could 13.

In accordance with Las Vegas police, Cannon was driving a Tesla at round 1:20 a.m. close to the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Vegas Drive. Preliminary particulars confirmed Cannon was driving south on Rainbow approaching the intersection with Vegas Drive.

Deloriea, on the skateboard, was making an attempt to cross Rainbow on the north facet of the intersection when the Tesla hit him. Medical personnel responded to the scene, and regardless of life-saving efforts, Deloriea succumbed to his accidents and was pronounced lifeless.

Cannon did not cease on the scene or notify police, police mentioned. On Wednesday, June 4, Police positioned and arrested Cannon.

In accordance with courtroom data, Cannon faces the costs of reckless driving leading to dying or bodily hurt, obligation to cease on the scene of the accident, and destruction or concealment of proof.

She was held on the Clark County Detention Middle on a $7,000 bail. Her subsequent preliminary courtroom look was scheduled for Thursday, June 5.

The collision marked the 66th deadly traffic-related incident within the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025.
